I met Emily in first grade at my elementary school, and we became best friends. We went to different schools for a few years, but reunited in high school and have been friends since. It’s been an honor to photograph her over the years and to watch her fall in love with her beautiful girlfriend, Hailey.
I had the chance to photograph them with film at Hillside Gardens & Event Center, a gorgeous garden wedding venue in Downtown, Colorado Springs. Summer is my favorite time of year to visit the venue because of the lush greens and beautiful flowers. These two fit right in with all of the beautiful flora!

I have been falling in love with film more and more over the past year. My husband, Garrett, gifted me his old film camera years ago and encourages me to explore film. It is one of my most treasured possessions– the camera that took the majority of his childhood photos, and hopefully the camera I’ll use to document our lives together. I shot all of these images on Portra 800 film and sent them to Utah where theFINDlab developed them.

Emily and Hailey are a lesbian couple based in Austin, Texas. I am pansexual and love the LGBT community, and therefore love taking photos of others who are also LGBT. Lesbian and gay people deserve for their love stories to be told through portraits just as much as heterosexual people, and I am thrilled to be able to do this.
