Breckenridge Sunrise Elopement | Ally + Dexter

I have had the honor and pleasure of documenting many important life events for Ally. In the spring and summer of 2020, I photographed her portraits as a senior graduating from UCCS. Later, I photographed her engagement to her now-husband, Dexter, and finally, their stunning sunrise elopement in Breckenridge, Colorado.

Photography has allowed me to be a part of special moments for so many, and it’s a task I don’t consider lightly. Photos give us the unique opportunity to look back on moments we might otherwise forget, and to be able to give that to people has been one of my greatest joys. I feel especially thankful when I am able to do this for my loved ones!

The weekend of Ally and Dexter’s elopement was a busy one for me. I had a wedding the night before and a wedding the same day as their elopement in a different city. 2 weddings and 1 elopement in the span of 2 days is a lot, and I knew my body would be tired. A + D knew this and offered to let me spend the night with them and their family in a cabin in Breckenridge! I can’t thank them enough as it saved me 5+ hours of driving (and if you know me, you know that driving isn’t my most favorite activity) and it meant that I could sleep in a bit! Since I live in Colorado Springs, mountain sunrise elopements often mean a 2:30 am wakeup call for me. It is ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS worth the early morning, but it was so nice to be able to wake up at a more reasonable hour (-: Please enjoy Ally + Dexter’s special day.

Breckenridge Elopement – Getting Ready

Fun fact – Ally forgot her bouquet at their cabin! Dexter’s incredible friends drove back to get the flowers for her and you can see one of them holding the bouquet in the photo above!

Colorado Sunrise Elopement – First Look

This Breckenridge sunrise elopement was in early September, 2021. It was still easily accessible by car and there was no snow.

Vows at the lake

I am especially in love with this portion of their gallery. Dexter and Ally began their vows before the sun had crested the horizon. One can see the beautiful alpenglow pouring over the mountains and their vows progress. It was stunning to behold.

Family Photos

“Eloping” in terms of marriage used to mean that two people would get married without telling anyone else. It was a secret that was kept, especially from parents and other family members. The term has evolved, and now encompasses a wide variety of ceremonies, traditions, and the ability to include other people. Ally’s family and Dexter’s friends had the honor of witnessing their elopement.

We took their photos in front of these gorgeous mountains behind blue lakes.
